☕ Larnaca Is About to Smell Very Good Next Sunday

Cyprus’ biggest specialty coffee festival is returning to Salina Municipal Park in Larnaca on May 10, bringing together some of the island’s top roasters, food vendors, and serious coffee lovers for a full day of caffeine-fuelled chaos. From espresso shots to cold brews, this is where Cyprus’ coffee scene shows off.
And this is bigger than it sounds. Coffee culture in Cyprus has exploded in recent years — moving far beyond instant coffee and chain cafés into craft roasters, home brewing, and proper coffee communities. If you want to see where that shift is heading, it’ll probably be in Larnaca next Sunday.
🚨 500 Residents Could Be Forced Out of Larnaca Apartment Block

A large apartment building in Larnaca housing around 500 people may face evacuation after an initial structural assessment reportedly raised serious safety concerns. Authorities are now examining the site more closely, as fears grow that one of the city’s biggest residential blocks could pose a real risk if action is delayed.
This isn’t an isolated case. Larnaca is already dealing with more than 500 dangerous buildings across the district, many neglected for years and now caught in a slow-moving system of inspections, legal hurdles, and limited resources. What used to feel like an old-building problem is starting to look like a citywide one.
🏛️ Larnaca’s New Town Hall Just Got €2M More Expensive

Larnaca’s long-awaited new municipal hall is finally moving forward — but after two years of delays, the projected cost has now climbed to around €9 million. The plan is to transform the old hospital site into the city’s future town hall, a project that’s been talked about for decades and repeatedly pushed back.
And this isn’t just about offices. For many locals, the old hospital is one of the city’s most symbolic buildings. Bringing it back to life could become a statement that Larnaca is finally starting to act on big promises — even if it’s paying more to get there.
